So here's the new logo for the Office of Information Awareness, one of the U.S.'s many new spy and control organizations:

Now, just make sure that even though we're going to be spied upon and all of our personal information is going to be more readily available for governmental abuse, that you don't forget how FREE you still are. Freer than Osama, freer than the French, freer than your parents and their parents.

Feeling free yet?

Speaking of parents, today my mother called me on the cell phone to say that "up here" (Johnstown? Pennsylvania? the Northeast?) someone exploded a canister of mace and 40 people had to go to the hospital. The FBI is investigating, apparently. I don't know what any of this means ... to me, mace is something college sophomore girls carry around with them to ward off rapists and muggers, or it's a spice. "Canister of mace"? What does that look like? What does it do? Where would you get one?

I guess I'd make a pretty bad terrorist. Which is good, for (duh) obvious reasons. I can't understand why anyone would inflict harm on another person. Read a book instead -- it's the most subversive thing you can do in the U.S. Read carefully, with nothing but love for the goodness of humanity on your mind. The goodness of humanity has been shredded and stepped on. It is only a theory in the minds of many.

Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse. Lily Tomlin
